Bring Banks
Kildare County Council provide bring centres where you can recycle small household items such as glass, cans and textiles.
What is a Bring Bank?
Bring banks are large containers located at various points throughout the county where residents can dispose of glass bottles/jars and clothing.
What items do Bring Banks accept?
The type of items that can be brought to a bring bank depends on the containers at each location. See below map.
Bring Bank usage
Please do not abuse these facilities by leaving rubbish or waste at them. Littering is an offence under the Litter Pollution Act and liable to an on-the-spot fine of €150. Please bring your bags/boxes home and dispose of in the correct manner. Leaving your recyclable items beside the bring banks, rather than placing them in the containers provided is illegal and costs time and money to clean up. Even when banks are full, it is illegal to leave your items beside the bank - go to another site or return when the banks have been emptied. If a bank is full, please email environ@kildarecoco.ie so that we can arrange for the banks to be emptied.
How should I dispose of glass?
Please segregate the glass according to colour - this is important for the recycling process and place the glass jar/bottle in the relevant container.
How should I dispose of Clothing/Textiles?
Clothing and Textiles may be disposed of in bring bank containers specifically for clothing or textiles. Please ensure that clothing is clean, dry and in good condition. Duvets and Pillows are not accepted. You can find your nearest textile recycling point at the following link.
Abuse of Bring Banks:
Bring banks are intended for household glass only. Commercial outlets must deal with and pay for their own waste management/ recycling services. Bottle banks used illegally by commercial outlets for their large volumes of glass leave little capacity for the domestic user. Please do not leave empty boxes behind. You should bring your empty cardboard boxes home, tear them apart and put them in your recycling bin. Leaving your recyclable items beside the bring banks, rather than placing them in the containers provided is illegal and costs time and money to be cleared up. Anyone caught leaving their recyclable items beside a bring bank (whether the bring bank is full or not) may be prosecuted for littering. Littering is an offence under the Litter Pollution Act and liable to an on-the-spot fine of €150.
What should I do if a Bring Bank is full?
Bring Banks are regularly emptied. However if you find that a Bring Bank is full, please do not leave your recyclable items beside the bring bank as it is illegal to do so and may result in a fine and prosecution. Instead, please bring your items to a bring bank at an alternative location and contact Kildare County Council on 045 980200 or email environ@kildarecoco.ie to highlight that the bring bank needs to be emptied.
