Patrick Scott - Arcady IV
Screenprint on Linen, Edition 18/25

Born in Kilbrittain, County Cork in 1921, Patrick Scott trained as an architect. He had his first exhibition in 1944, but did not become a full time artist until 1960. He has works in several major collections including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. He also represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale. This screen print by Patrick Scott is an abstract work made from a few geometric shapes that suggest the natural forms of nature, resembling foliage. The colours Scott uses reinforce this reading. The exposed natural canvas again adds to the earthiness of the piece.
