Kildare County Council has secured €150,000 funding from the Arts Council for the further development of the Creative Places Athy (CPA) programme. This funding will prioritise creative projects co-designed with the community and also support artists and arts groups to build on and develop their skills.
Creative Places Athy promotes and celebrates the lives and cultural experience of all who live in Athy, with emphasis on arts projects in the town. In addition to Arts Council investment, the programme is supported by Local Property Tax funding. The artistic programme is supported by significant investment by Kildare County Council, Kildare Arts Service, and partner agencies who contribute funding, expertise and sectoral knowledge in community development, social, economic and cultural inclusion.
Over the next two years Creative Places Athy will continue to develop as a sustainable, inclusive, and co-designed programme that builds local capacity, strengthens cross-sector collaboration, and embeds long-term, socially engaged arts practice within the community.
Responding to the announcement, Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, Kildare County Council said; “Creative Places Athy continues to demonstrate the transformative role of the arts, in building connected and inclusive communities. As the programme develops, it offers opportunities to enhance pride of place and support communities in shaping a vibrant and creative future together.”
Opportunities to be involved will be announced as they become available.
Creative Places Athy is funded and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Kildare County Council and aims to support and grow arts and cultural strengths in Athy with individuals, artists/creatives and local communities.
