Creative Places Athy is an arts programme rooted in Athy and its surrounding communities, placing creativity at the heart of everyday life. Working collaboratively with local people, artists, and organisations, the programme supports artist-led and community-informed projects that respond to place, lived experience, and local stories. Creative Places Athy fosters meaningful participation in the arts, creating opportunities for experimentation, learning, and connection across generations, while building confidence, sustaining relationships, and supporting creative activity that reflects the identity, history, and future of Athy.
Creative Places Athy is part of Creative Places / Cumas Ceantar, a national programme of sustained arts investment led by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon in partnership with local authorities. Athy is one of a number of Creative Places across Ireland, working to enable communities to develop vibrant, accessible, and inclusive arts programmes over the long term. The programme is led locally by Kildare County Council Arts Service, who applied for the Creative Places funding and continues to support the programme’s development and delivery.
