Kildare County Council Arts Service has commissioned a broad range of public art since 1975 through internal Local Authority capital developments and partnerships and the central government’s Per Cent for Art Scheme. The Per Cent for Art Scheme is a government initiative, first established in Ireland in 1978 by the Office of Public Works, whereby 1% of the cost of any publicly funded capital, infrastructural and building development should be allocated to the commissioning of a work of art.
Publicart.ie provides comprehensive information regarding the Per Cent for Art Scheme.
Kildare Arts Service is committed to bringing art and artists into a wide variety of local contexts and communities across a variety of art forms.
