Objectives

Kildare Sports Partnership is a Sport Ireland initiative hosted by Kildare County Council. KSP is based in the Community and Culture Department at Áras Chill Dara, Naas.

The key aim of Kildare Sports Partnership is to promote and increase participation in sport and physical activity in County Kildare, especially amongst our specific target groups, in a planned and coordinated way. The goal is to provide opportunities to be active for all age groups and all abilities.

Target Groups include:

  • Women and girls
  • Older people
  • People with disabilities
  • People from disadvantaged communities

The partnership was established to form and maintain partnerships with local organisations and develop programmes & activities based on the community's needs. Ensuring the best possible use of local resources is also one of the main objectives.

Objectives outlined for Kildare Sports Partnership by Sport Ireland:

  • Enhanced planning of sport at local level
  • Increased levels of local participation, especially amongst specific target groups - older people, girls and women, people with disabilities, unemployed people and those who live in identified disadvantaged communities.
  • Club development
  • Volunteer training
  • Local Directories of sports bodies and facilities
  • Better use of existing facilities
  • Clear priorities for local facility provision and improvement
  • School/club/community support
  • Local sports events
