Kildare Young Filmmakers
Kildare Young Filmmakers is a youth-focused film development initiative supported by Kildare County Council Arts Service and based at Platform 4 in Leixlip Library. As part of the wider Kildare Short Grass Films programme, it supports young people across the county to engage creatively with film and screen-based practice.
The programme provides opportunities for young people to develop practical skills, explore storytelling, and build confidence through hands-on filmmaking. It supports pathways into further education and the creative industries, while also nurturing future audiences and participants in the county’s film ecology.
Through workshops, projects and ongoing engagement, Kildare Young Filmmakers widens access to high-quality creative opportunities and supports the development of the next generation of filmmakers in County Kildare. Established in 2014, the initiative has grown into an award-winning youth film group, where participants are supported to devise and produce their own short films. The group meets regularly in Leixlip Library, with additional summer camps open to wider participation.
