Royal Canal Greenway (Maynooth to Leixlip) – Construction Works Update

Glas Civil Engineering Ltd are continuing works on the Royal Canal Greenway scheme from Louisa Bridge, Leixlip to Maynooth Harbour.

As part of this scheme, the following works are ongoing:

  • Section of the towpath/greenway from Deey Bridge (Blakestown) to Louisa Bridge, Leixlip will reopen to the public from Friday (evening) 29 November.
  • Section of the towpath/greenway from R406 Straffan Road, Maynooth to Pike Bridge remains closed for upgrade works.
  • Upgrade works are continuing on the R148 Road between Pike Bridge and Deey Bridge (Blakestown). Various traffic management layouts and a road works speed limit reduction (from 80km/hr to 50km/hr) is in place for these works. From Tuesday 12th November, a stop/go shuttle system will be in place for an estimated 8-week period.
