Creative Places Athy publishes suite of grants to support artists and the local creative community

Creative Places Athy, through Kildare Arts Service has published a suite of grants to support established artists, emerging artists/creatives, arts organisations/groups, and creative communities to begin the process of making work together in Athy and the Municipal District. These are the first of a series of opportunities via Creative Places Athy, with more updates expected in the weeks and months ahead.

Creative Places Athy is a brand-new initiative, led by Kildare County Council Arts Service. Creative Places Athy is one of nine Creative Places initiatives funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and Kildare County Council. Funding was successfully allocated to the Kildare Arts Service to run this initiative over three years. The initiative aims to create socially engaged art projects that are rooted in community development principles with and for the people of Athy. Creative Places Athy will support the growth of arts and creativity in Athy and the surrounding municipal districts.

Socially engaged art is an art form that allows artists and communities to work meaningfully together over a period of time on projects/ideas that explore common goals and interests. Collaboration, participation, time, intent and spaces to have creative experiences are central to the success of a project or idea.
