‘Storm in a Teacup’ - Michael Farrell
Medium: Lithograph
Dimensions: 68.5cm x 95.5cm
Location: Newbridge Library
This work by Michael Farrell, although abstracted gives a quite literal visual description of the phrase “a storm in a teacup”. The composition is dominated by a stylised teacup viewed as if cut-through so the contents can be viewed. Above the teacup are lines that can be read as both an abstract pattern and as lightening bolts. The colour scheme is fairly muted meaning that the Irish tricolour flag of the boats sail particularly stands out at the centre of the composition.
