Siobhan Piercey lives and works in the West of Ireland. She studied at the Royal College of Art, London, Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, Kent, U.K. and the Crawford School of Art, Cork, Ireland. She lectured in Fine Art at the Art and Design Department at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology, formerly known as Galway Regional Technical College, from 1979 until she was appointed acting head of Art and Design Department in 2000 and then head of fine art printmaking 2003 at the same college. She has widely exhibited both in Ireland and overseas.
This work by Siobhan Piercy is more of a work of graphic design than fine art, with a heavy emphasis on design layout. It incorporates various elements: images of robins made by a multilayered stencil technique; a stylised grass pattern, a photographic image of tinsel; another pattern, perhaps from Christmas wrapping paper; and text and photographs taken from a newspaper.
