  This work by Winifred Garritty is a diptych, a painting in two parts. Both parts are landscapes, but far from traditional. Usually landscapes are of picturesque scenes of beautiful rolling countryside. In this work, however, the landscape has no distinctive landmarks and has very little variety in shade or colour. The darkness of the landscape in contrasted with the brightness of the sky. On top of these landscapes are grids giving the impression that the work is somehow a scientific study.
