Live at ... series of gigs supported by Kildare's Local Live Performance Programming Scheme (Phase III)

Live at .... series of concerts in Maynooth and Naas 

CS Promotions and Darn Skippy with support by Kildare County Council and funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme bring a series of live gigs to Maynooth and Naas this June. 

 

Eimear Crehan - After years of singing funk and rock, and performing at festivals, Kildare artist Eimear released a solo album ’SCARS' in Nov 2018 and her second album 'QUIVER' in 2022. Since then she has been touring full-time, supporting and duetting with artists like Jack L, Mary Coughlan and more recently The Conoras.  Support by Ross A. with special guest Sadhbh Keane.

Megan O'Neill - Named one of the Irish Examiner’s Ones to Watch in 2022, singer-songwriter Megan O’Neill has just released her new EP Time (Thought you were on my side) in April this year. Deemed a “rising star” by uDiscover and Timeout Magazine London, Megan has toured the UK, Ireland, US and Germany, has performed alongside Gavin James and opened for Sir Tom Jones, Lighthouse Family and Jamie Cullum.

An evening of Poetry: Curated by Tapasya Narang -  featuring performances by local Kildare artists including some familiar and some new voices to help you experience new waves in poetry from Ireland. The event will be curated by Tapasya Narang PhD, lecturer in English at Dublin City University, who will share her reflections on the public role of poetry and its manifestation in Ireland today.

The Poets:

Sophie L. Clarke is a wordsmith. She is an author in training with keen literary and academic interests. Her love of words and written language finds a home in prose, poetry and talking. She has performed her work at Maynooth University Soiree 2021 and many other events, and is working towards her first collection.

Darren Donohue is an award-winning poet and playwright living in Goresbridge, Co. Kilkenny. His poetry is widely published in journals and newspapers including Poetry Ireland Review, Cyphers, Irish Times, Sunday Independent, Banshee Press and more. Darren was writer-in-residence at Carlow College, St Patrick’s, 2019, and the Science Gallery, Trinity College, Dublin, 2020. His debut poetry collection titled; Secret Poets is published by Turas Press

Max Zanga is a Kildare-based boy and belongs to the Tebi Rex. Tebi Rex have been building a fine head of steam in Irish music under the umbrella of the Word Up Collective over the last couple of years with influences derived from the zeitgeist intersection between trap, R&B and DIY pop. Max Zanga is the rapper, capable of rhyming over dance rhythms, summer jams and acoustic pop.

Róisín Ní Neachtain is an emerging writer and artist based in Kildare. Her art is held in international private collections and her work has featured both online and in print, most recently in The Honest Ulsterman and in Footprints, a Broken Sleep Books ecopoetry anthology. She won second place at the Red Line Book Festival Poetry Competition in 2021 and was recently awarded the Dennis O’Driscoll Literary Bursary Award by Kildare County Council to work on her first collection of poetry

Tobi Omoteso is an internationally acclaimed Nigerian/Irish B-boy (Breakin’ /Breakdancer) and Hip-Hop Freestyle dancer, training at Broadway Dance Centre, West Bronx, New York and Breakbeat Dance Studios, Waterford, Ireland. Tobi has been dancing for over 20 years and supports the foundations of this dynamic and Influential dance form with his B-boy crew – RECESSION SQUAD NINJAS. Tobi is the curator and director of the hugely popular TOP 8 STREET DANCE BATTLE that brings together the best of Irish and International Street dancers and Hip-hop artist to existing and new audiences. As a choreographer and performer, Tobi’s work has been presented nationally and internationally, including at Dublin Dance Festival, WHAT NEXT dance festival (Limerick), Cork Midsummer Festival, Glor Dance Platform (Co. Clare), Sproi Festival (Waterford), Electric Picnic (Strabally), Eva Biannual International Contemporary Arts Festival, SODEA Festival and more.

Tapasya Narang is a literary critic, book reviewer and art worker. She did her PhD on Irish and Indian contemporary poetry and is currently lecturing at Dublin City University. Her essays have appeared inPoetry Ireland Review, RTE Brainstorm,culturetrip.com and Poetry Ireland's Trumpet. She has been appointed as the guest editor of Trumpet 11. She has also won the Arts Council's Agility Award to conduct her research on Irish women's small presses from the 1980s.

Live at the Local: Naas - Three unique and exciting artists together for one night only! An unmissable evening of live performances by musicians Emma Langford and Sive, and poet/performer FeliSpeaks. As well as individual performances, the show will feature a new collaboration between all three of these trailblazing artists. role of poetry and its manifestation in Ireland today.
