This Must Be The Place  - INSPIRATIONAL COLOURS

An exhibition of artworks by studio artists from the KCAT studio Callan, Kilkenny. The works in “Inspirtional Colours” have been selected and curated by artists from the art group, KARE, Eyre Street, Newbridge. This exhibition represents the first collaboration between these two art groups and is the first KCAT exhibition in Newbridge.

This is a curatorial project as part of the Creative Well 'This Must Be the Place' Residency at Riverbank Arts Centre.

The exhibition will be opened by Linda Geraghty, director of Riverbank Arts Centre, Thursday 28th April at 1:30pm. All welcome!

Artists: Lorna Corrigan, Karl Fitzgerald, Jason Turner, Mary Cody, Eileen Mulrooney, Diana Chambers, Sinead Fahey, Declan Byrne, Margaret Walker.

Curatorial team: Jennifer Howell, Conor Hanrahan, Stephen Cash, Niamh Devine, Brendan Burke, Tracey Campbell, Ronnie Shortt, Jean Fitzgerald.

KCAT Studio is part of the KCAT Art & Study Centre, Callan, CountyKilkenny, and is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland. Artists at KCAT studio are supported in all aspects of their professional development. Working individually, all share, inspire and motivate each other. The artists at KCAT studio have compleated many commissions and exhibited extensively in Ireland and as far afield as Australia, Japan, the United States and a number of European countries. Collaborating on projects with other arts organisations in Ireland and abroad is an important part of professional development. Presenting at symposia, conferences and lectures, KCAT Studio Artists fulfil an important part of disseminating and advocating their own work and that of KCAT.

The Art Group, KARE, Eyre St. have been together for the past 12 years.

The aims of the group are

• · To explore possibilities through the media of art.
• · To share ideas and identify changes in their lives.
• · To explore and facilitate making decisions and choices.
• · To learn the skills and techniques of art
• · To be confident to use the same skills in other similar settings like, mainstream classes and community clubs etc.
• · To encourage and support the group to challenges of self-expression, confidence and access the natural supports that are available in the community.
• · To enhance their learning and highlight the importance of visual art in the lives and learning of the group.

Over the years the group have exhibited in the Riverbank, Cheshire homes and Russborough house. They have also received funding and grants to have their work professionally framed.
