Portrait Artist of the Year 2019 Competition Call Out - DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS EXTENDED UNTIL 5PM ON FRIDAY 13TH.

Following the success in previous years, we are delighted to announce that the Kildare Portrait Artist of the Year competition will take place this year as part of the Culture Night programme.

This year's competition takes place on Friday the 20th September 5pm-9.30pm, at Castletown House, Celbridge.

This competition involves a number of selected artists painting a portrait of a celebrity model over a three hour period (with 15 minute breaks after each 40 minutes).  The public will be invited to watch as the paintings progress over the evening.

The artists can use any medium of their choice but this does not include photography.  Open to all artists over 16 years of age, at all stages of their artistic development.

Interested in taking part?

We now invite artists to register by 5pm, Friday 13th September 2019 for consideration to take part in the competition.  The applications will be evaluated and artists invited to participate in the competition.

The prize?

An overall winner will be selected on Culture Night by a panel and will receive a prize of €750 from Kildare County Council.

The sitters will also choose their 'Sitter's Choice' to take home, as a high-quality print of the original (the costs of which will be covered by Kildare County Council)

Closing date is 5pm, Friday 13th September 2019.
