Kildare Arts Service : Press Releases : Press Releases 2021

A packed programme of 60+ free arts and cultural events across the county for Culture Night Kildare

Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir took place on Friday 17th September 2021.

Almost 60 free arts and cultural events took place across the county organised by individuals, community groups and arts organisations and supported by Kildare Library & Arts Services. Registration for all events was free and this year the majority of events took place in person, in adherence with government guidelines.  For 2021 Kildare Arts Service commissioned Culture Night Murals by artists Paul Woods, SOLUS and Kildare Art Collective with Holly Pereira at three locations in Newbridge. The murals can be viewed at the Kildare County Council Machinery Yard (Paul Woods), George’s Street (SOLUS) and Abbins House, Eyre Street (Holly Periera).

In addition, the Arts Service commissioned new arts projects supporting artists working in various artforms across the county: Fizz and Chips Productions’ ‘Live in the Garden’, an evening of music, comedy and theatre (Kilcock Community Gardens); ‘Absolutely Fabulously Ridiculously Ugly’ a new play by Conor Burke (The Moat Theatre, Naas), Conor Walton’s ‘Portrait Marathon’ (The Moat Theatre, Naas); ‘The Kildare Folklore Pharmacy’ by Sheena Malone (Main Street, Newbridge).
