Ailish Claffey announced as Artist in Residence at The ACRE Project, Celbridge
Dance artist Ailish Claffey has been awarded an Artist in Residence at the beautiful setting of the ACRE Project, Celbridge Co. Kildare. The residency will consist of engagement with members of the public, as well as access to the onsite facilities and workshop space over a 30- week programme (until June 2023) for the development of her professional practice.
Ken Mc Evoy,The ACRE Chairperson stated ‘There is no doubt that the artist will find endless inspiration within the boundaries of this dynamic centre as well as within the community that surrounds it’.
Ailish has already taken up residency at the ACRE and begun creating movement workshops (INCUBATOR and MEET & MOVE) with the local community alongside delivering Dance for Health projects. Ailish’s artistic practice is intergenerational and welcomes all ages and abilities. The Acre Project is delighted to have Ailish on board and look forward to seeing what unfolds from her practice in the coming months.
Ailish Claffey is a dance artist, choreographer and curator based in Co. Kildare. Over the last two decades she has worked with diverse groups within the community developing her co-creative and Dance for Health practice. Exploring the complexity of human relationship and examining the lived experience of those she works with lie at the heart of Ailish’s choreographic work. Ailish is currently exploring the use of scored work in a desire to move away from creating written work. She has been supported by a Dance Bursary Award from Arts Council, Ireland and the ALAAO/Arts Council Platform31 Award for Kildare 2022.
