Callout for Artist in Residence proposals for The ACRE project, Celbridge, Co. Kildare

The ACRE Project (A Community Rethinking its Environment) is an eco-friendly community-based project on a site on the Maynooth Road in Celbridge, County Kildare.  The project provides internal and external spaces which local communities can gather in and use.

Core elements of The ACRE:

  • a creative space for the community to gather and engage;
  • an interactive setting where people can learn about ecology and environmental living;
  • a structured setting where young people can meet and grow;
  • non-formal education through the medium of horticulture and the creative arts.

The ACRE project wishes to explore an Artist in Residence programme, on a pilot basis.  The residency is supported by Kildare County Council Arts Service, as part of its Arts, Health and Wellbeing programme, with grant aid from the Arts Council.

The Call Out:

Applications are invited from individual artists for a pilot 30-week Artist in Residence scheme, commencing Autumn 2022 in the creative space at The ACRE.  It is expected that the residency will consist of public engagement with members of the public over the period October 2022 – June 2023, as well as access to office facilities and workshop space one day a week (Fridays). The ACRE Artist in Residence scheme will provide:

  • An Artist in Residence Bursary award (€15,000) to include expenses
  • 30-week residency in our creative space
  • Support in accessing communities to deliver a public-facing workshop programme with a dedicated room made available to the artist.

We welcome applications from individual artists and/or collectives or companies practicing in any artform from diverse cultural backgrounds. Applicants can learn more about the ACRE Project here.

Timetable

It is envisaged that the residency will take place over 30 weeks, commencing in October 2022.  The dates will be agreed between all parties.  The contact hours for the public-facing workshops will be agreed, but it is expected that there will be regular engagement throughout the residency.

Application and deadline:

Please email an up-to-date CV and an expression of interest (max two pages/500 words), to secretary@acreproject.com  addressing the following:
