Below is a list of currently available programmes that are open to the public. Kildare Sports Partnership is delighted to announce Kildare Sports Ability Day is back this year at Maynooth University! The event is all about showcasing and promoting inclusive sport & physical activities, organisations & and clubs in County Kildare. We invite you to come along for a day of trying out new sports and discovering inclusive clubs & and organisations! The event is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Pop up pool
Swim Ireland's Pop Up Pool
Swim Ireland welcomes you to the pool over the coming months, with learn to swim programmes, schools swimming and public swims available for booking now.
We are working very closely with Swim Ireland on the Pop-Up Pool project, delivering several community programmes at the Pop-Up Pool in Leixlip.

Autism in Sport
This workshop is for sports leaders, coaches, volunteers, teachers, principals, special needs assistants (SNAs), parents, or anyone who has an interest in making their sport accessible and inclusive for people with autism.

Autumn Trails
Kildare Sports Partnership welcomes back our 5km autumn trails after last year’s successful programme! The 5km walk will be led by walking leader Clifford Reid. The walk will benefit participants looking to increase their physical & mental well-being and help engage in their community!

Sports Ability Programmes
Learn to Cycle Programme
Our 6 week Learn To Cycle programme will commence in November in Naas. The programme is suitable for children and teenagers with additional needs above the age of 4. The cycling programme is run by the Cycling Safety School. Participants can register for one of the two time blocks: Block 1 (4 – 5pm) and Block 2 (5 – 6pm).
The course is aligned to CYCLE RIGHT, the National Standard for Cycle Training in Ireland, and is delivered by a qualified trainer.
The benefits of cycling are well known: independence and mobility; overall fitness; a way to control weight; promoting physical health; promoting mental health; countering the onset of other health conditions such as diabetes.

The Daily Mile
The Daily Mile is simple and free and gets children out of the classroom for fifteen minutes every day to run or jog, at their own pace, with their classmates, making them fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom. 25 schools in County Kildare have registered to take part in The Daily Mile - join them by registering through the link below!

Women in Sports Programmes
Body, Mind and Movement Class
This class involves conscious movement & and dance practice based on a variety of somatic dance/movement methodologies that help to bring consciousness to all parts of the body, opening pathways to wellness, expansion and vitality.

Somatic Dance Classes
This class is a science-based therapeutic programme that enhances overall health & well-being. This class is quite different from a regular fitness class. These sessions focus on increasing body awareness, body-mind connection while becoming more fit & strong, increasing coordination & balance, boosting the immune system and most importantly having fun and feeling energised!

Hill Dara Hiking Group
Hill Dara Hiking Group organises hikes on weekends in different locations. The group is always accompanied by trained hillwalkers and new joiners are very welcome!

Fitstocks and Chair Yoga
Fitsticks involve walking with activator / nordic poles which promote aerobic fitness, mobility, strength, and balance for people with different abilities and fitness levels. Use of the poles means upper body muscles are used as well as legs. The poles help to propel the walker along meaning you work harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier. The poles & yoga sessions are suited for all levels and abilities
Benefits include: better posture, strengthening of the core muscles and enhanced mobility of neck & shoulders.
