22 Week Instructorship Course
Kildare Sports Partnership collaborates with the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB) to provide a 22-week instructorship for water-based outdoor recreation.
This course is completely free to attend and those in receipt of social welfare payments who may wish to apply. The course is also free to anyone who is currently unemployed and not in receipt of any form of payment.
This instructorship is designed to bring a complete novice to becoming;
- A qualified Canoeing Ireland Level One Instructor
- A qualified Irish Dragon Boat Helm and Foundation Coach
- Qualified in Rescue Emergency Care Level 2 First Aid
- Qualified in Manual Handling for water equipment
- Educated in Safeguarding One
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be over 18 years of age on the day of application
- Be able to swim
- Have a minimum of 5 D Grades from Junior Certificate Level
This programme will give participants the tools that they need to begin working in the outdoor recreation industry. All qualifications transfer internationally so that completion will also give graduates the opportunity to travel and work in outdoor recreation in other countries. It will also provide a solid base to build up more qualifications, start a business, or give back to their local communities and clubs.
