Lilywhite Summer Home Olympics
Kildare Sports Partnership established a working group during the Covid-19 lockdown with representatives from Kildare Disability Services, KARE, St John of Gods and National Learning Network. Together the group designed The Lilywhite Summer Home Olympics to allow families, clubs and services to be active while staying within their homes.
The initiative was held from June 29th to July 10th. We had 280 participants take part over the two-week period. Services hosted Opening Ceremonies and participants completed 8 out of 10 events and held closing ceremonies. Each participant received a Lilywhite Summer Home Olympics medal.
Kildare County Council were shortlisted in the seventeenth annual Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards 2020 for the Lilywhite Summer Home Olympics in Disability Services Provision.
