The Daily Mile
The Daily Mile, promoted by Athletics Ireland, is a 15-minute walk, jog, or run primary school initiative. The aim of the programme is to get children moving, improve the physical, social, emotional, and mental health and wellbeing of children, and encourage them to be aware of their health. It is social, non-competitive, and fun.
It is fully inclusive, with no equipment or change of clothes required, no cost, and no paperwork involved for teachers or schools. The programme can start at any point of the school year, the frequency is at the discretion of the teacher or school, depending on what suits the teacher and their class.
Schools can sign up to The Daily Mile through their website, linked here. It is a one-off free registration and takes approximately 2-3 minutes to sign up.
