Road Traffic Act 2004 – Section 10
M4 in the townlands of Moortown, Barrogstown, Kilmacredock Upper, Castletown, Rinawade Upper, Barnhall and Leixlip Demesne, Co. Kildare
Kildare County Council, in accordance with the powers conferred under Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act 2004 and in the interest of road safety, hereby makes the following Order in respect of the area comprising the administrative county of Kildare;
This order may be cited as the County of Kildare Road Works Speed Limit Order NRO2/2024.
80 kilometres per hour shall be the Road Works Speed Limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the Roads as specified in the First Schedule to this order;
60 kilometres per hour shall be the Road Works Speed Limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the Roads as specified in the Second Schedule to this order;
First Schedule
Roads in respect of which a Road Works Speed Limit of 80 kilometres per hour is prescribed;
A section of the M4 in the townlands of Moortown, Barrogstown and Kilmacredock Upper.
M4 Eastbound J6 to J5 will run from Monday, 8 April 2024 until Monday, 2 December 2024.
- Part of the M4 Eastbound between a point 1,450 metres west of the centre line of the Leixlip/Celbridge West Interchange (M4 Junction 6) to a point 950 metres west of the centre line of the Leixlip/Celbridge West Interchange (M4 Junction 6)
(Total 500m in length).
Second Schedule
Roads in respect of which a Road Works Speed Limit of 60 kilometres per hour is prescribed;
A section of the M4 in the townlands of Kilmacredock Upper, Castletown, Rinawade Upper, Barnhall and Leixlip Demesne.
M4 Eastbound J6 to J5 will run from Monday, 8 April 2024 until Monday, 2 December 2024.
- Part of the M4 Eastbound between a point 950 metres west of the centre line of the Leixlip/Celbridge West Interchange (M4 Junction 6) to a point 1,100 metres west of the centre line of the existing Leixlip/Celbridge East Interchange (N4 Junction 5) Overbridge.
(Total 3,725m in length).
- Part of the eastbound M4 diverge at Leixlip/Celbridge West junction (M4 Junction 6) from a point 30 metres west of the end of the diverge off-ramp at Leixlip/Celbridge West junction (M4 Junction 6) to the start of the merge taper.
(Total 430m in length).
- Part of the eastbound M4 merge at Leixlip/Celbridge West junction (M4 Junction 6) from a point 120 metres east of the start of the merge on-ramp at Leixlip/Celbridge West junction (M4 Junction 6) to the end of the merge taper.
(Total 405m in length).
An Garda Síochána and Transport Infrastructure Ireland have indicated that they have no objections to this Road Works Speed Limit Order.
This Road Works Speed Limit Order will apply from Monday, 8 April 2024 until Monday, 2 December 2024.
