Draft Noise Action Plan 2024-2028
Kildare County Council have prepared a draft Noise Action Plan for sections of major roadways in their functional areas that experience a volume of traffic greater than 3 million vehicle passages per year.
A Noise Action Plan is a requirement of the Environmental Noise Directive (‘END’) (2002/49/EC), which aims to put in place a European wide system for identifying sources of environmental noise, informing the public about relevant noise data and taking the necessary steps to avoid, prevent or reduce noise exposure. The END was transposed into Irish Law by the Environmental Noise Regulations 2006 (S.I. 140/2006) (the ‘Regulations’), which are revised and revoked by the European Communities (Environmental Noise) Regulations 2018 (S.I. 549/2018) and amended through the European Communities (Environmental Noise) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (S.I. 663/2021).
Details of the sections of roadways are included within the draft Noise Action Plan. Please note that this draft Noise Action Plan excludes noise from domestic activities, noise created by neighbours and noise at workplaces.
The draft Noise Action Plan will be available for public inspection (excluding weekends and bank holidays) during normal opening hours from Tuesday, 15 October 2024 to Wednesday, 27 November 2024 at the Transportation Section, Kildare County Council, Level 4, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department, Áras Chill Dara Devoy Park, Naas Co Kildare W91 X77F.
