Kildare County Council Active and Passive Recreation Needs Survey 2024
What does County Kildare need to meet the recreational needs of its communities?
Do you represent a sporting organisation, recreation group or host recreational activities at your facility?
We would like to hear from you!
7th October 2024: Kildare County Council is undertaking a survey of sporting organisations and recreational groups in County Kildare that participate in active and passive recreational activities, including those that host activities (e.g. schools, leisure centres, community centres and gyms), to inform us about themselves, their membership, where they undertake their activities, the level of activity and what they need in place to ensure that they can operate effectively.
Whether you are a sports club using outdoor pitches, a sports club using indoor facilities or a recreational group using the great outdoors for walking, cycling, canoeing or mountain biking – Kildare County Council would like to hear from you.
Kildare County Council is ambitious to ensure that its towns and villages across the county have access to the recreational facilities necessary to meet the needs of their communities. The survey will help Kildare County Council understand the level of current recreational provision and identify any shortfalls that need to be addressed to meet the existing needs of the county.
Your survey responses will help us develop three important recreational strategies for County Kildare;
- The County Kildare Active Recreational Infrastructure Strategy – will inform decisions that will be made relating to planning policy, project development and identification of future requirements to meet increasing sport and active recreation participation.
- The County Kildare Outdoor Recreation Plan – will set out actions for improving passive recreation facilities and opportunities in County Kildare, and opportunities for collaboration in the sector.
- The County Kildare Local Sports Plan – will review the needs and set out actions to increase participation in sport and physical activity within the county, working in conjunction with clubs, communities and partners within and beyond sport.
Correspondence has been issued to sporting organisations and recreational groups in Kildare, to complete a questionnaire and to share your insights into your club/ group and its activity in your town or village.
If you are a recreational organisation or recreational group (i.e. not an individual) that has not received direct contact from Kildare County Council and its consultants KPMG FA to date, please get in touch as soon as possible with your contact details by contacting us at forwardplanning@kildarecoco.ie.
The closing date for survey completion is Friday October 25th 2024.
