Kildare County Council announces 15th annual Kildare Readers Festival 2024
A Free Literary Festival programme for all
Kildare County Council is delighted to confirm that Kildare Readers Festival will return to venues across the county from 9th October to 16th October 2024.
Kildare Readers Festival in association with the Irish Writers Centre, is a celebration of the written word and a chance to connect with readers and writers alike.
Whether you’re a seasoned reader or just starting your literary journey, there’s something for everyone at the Kildare Readers Festival. This year’s lineup includes regular favourite ‘Ten Books You Should Read’ with social historian Catherine Corless and Abie Philbin Bowman. ‘Sunday Sessions: Lives within Families’ returns with Dermot Bolger, who this year is joined by acclaimed author Claire Kilroy and co-director of the Linenhall Arts Centre, Fiona Neary. Join us for a talk by one of Irelands best known historians, Professor Diarmad Ferriter who will speak on some of the topics explored in his latest book ‘The Revelation of Ireland’.
We are proud to welcome some of the most exciting new voices in Irish literature, with debut authors Niamh Mulvey and Maggie Armstrong. We have a fantastic line up of events with Sinéad Gleeson, Sara Baume, Mike McCormack, Olivia Fitzsimons, Aingeala Flannery and Jan Carson. We celebrate the Irish language with An Tolg Liteartha, where broadcaster Tristan Rosenstock. will interview the winners of the Oireachtas Publishing Awards 2024. We look forward to an evening of music, poetry, literature and song with an Oíche Airneál sa Leabharlann at Naas Library & Cultural Centre.
