Maynooth to Represent Ireland in Prestigious Entente Florale Europe Competition
23rd April 2025: Maynooth is set to shine on the European stage as it proudly represents Ireland in the Entente Florale Europe Competition. This prestigious competition, organized by the Association Européenne pour le Fleurissement et le Paysage (AEFP), has been celebrating the efforts of villages, towns, cities, communities and public bodies across Europe since 1975. Currently, eight European countries participate in this esteemed event.
This exciting entry is a collaborative effort between the Maynooth Tidy Towns Group, Kildare County Council and Maynooth University. Local schools and businesses are also joining forces, contributing to various initiatives leading up the adjudication.
The Entente Florale Association aims to foster social and cultural development through the enhancement of Horticulture, Tourism and the Environment. Judges will evaluate Maynooth across a range of categories, including planning & development, sustainable environment, planting and environmental education.
Mark your calendars for the 12th of July, when judges from Czechia, Germany and Hungary will visit Maynooth. They will follow a carefully planned route, showcasing specific locations that exemplify each assessment category in action.
Maynooth’s participation in the competition presents a unique opportunity for various stakeholders and community groups to collaborate and promote Maynooth in a positive way. It also allows for showcasing Maynooth as a vibrant, environmentally friendly heritage town and recognizing and rewarding the dedicated efforts of the Tidy Towns Groups.
