Kildare County Council launches Consultation for new Strategic Policy Committee Scheme
Tuesday 30th July 2024: Kildare County Council has today announced details of a public consultation for the development of a new scheme for the formation of Strategic Policy Committees (SPC) for the period 2025 - 2029.
Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) strengthen the policy development role of the elected members of Kildare County Council, by bringing together both elected members, and people actively working with social, economic, cultural and environmental bodies to develop and review policies related to council services.
It is proposed that six Strategic Policy Committees be formed by Kildare County Council related to the following areas of activity:
- Climate Action
- Environment and Water Services
- Planning, Enterprise & Economic Development
- Housing and Regeneration
- Local Community, Culture and Integration
- Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces
Kildare County Council is inviting members of the public to get involved by reviewing the draft scheme and making submissions, sharing your views and providing feedback.

You can also make your submission via email to SPCScheme@kildarecoco.ie or post your submission to Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Services Department, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co Kildare W91 X77F. All submissions should be marked ‘SPC Scheme 2024’.
Submissions must be received by no later than 5pm, Monday, 2 September 2024.
All submissions made will be considered, and a report on the public consultation process will be provided to the elected members of Kildare County Council, to assist them in making the new SPC Scheme.
