Kildare County Council announce exciting programme of events for
Seachtain Náisiúnta na Rothar 2024/ National Bike Week 2024
Bí ar do rothar! Get on your bike!
1st May 2024: National Bike Week will take place from the 11th to the 19th of May 2024. Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling including the opportunity for physical exercise, enjoying our local natural and historical heritage and contributing towards sustainable transport.
Kildare County Council in collaboration with the National Transport Authority have organised an action packed week of events which will be held throughout the County to celebrate Bike Week 2024.
Taispeántais Rothaíochta/ Cycling Exhibitions
Cycling exhibitions are being held in two of the County Libraries and will display exhibitions on Irish cycling history from the original pioneers in Irish cycling in the different cycling groups to the international achievements of Irish cyclists during the 1980s.

Dé Sathairn 11 Bealtaine/ Saturday 11th May
Narraghmore Family Cycle Event: 10.00 am- 12.00 pm
(Narraghmore to R415 Regional Road and return along Wood Road to Narraghmore for refreshments)
Robertstown Nature Cycle Event: 2.00 pm- 4.00 pm
(Lock 22 on the Barrow Blueway, at Feighcullen, and along the Blueway towards Rathangan, with discussion about the natural heritage of Lullymore/Bog of Allen and return for refreshments)
Dé Domhnaigh 12 Bealtaine/ Sunday 12th May
Moone Local Heritage. Cycle Event: 11.00 am- 1.00 pm
(Moone Village Centre to Timolin, with local heritage discussion and onto Crookstown for refreshments & return)
Déardaoin 16 Bealtaine/ Thursday 16th May
Monasterevin Family Cycle Event: 6.45 pm- 8.45 pm
(Monasterevin Leisure Cycle from Monasterevin Town Centre to the Barrow Blueway and along the Blueway to Fisherstown for refreshments and return to Monasterevin).
Dé Sathairn 18 Bealtaine/ Saturday 18th May
Athy Family Cycle Event: 11.00 pm- 1.30 pm
(Athy Sport Hub to Barrow Blueway to midway point for refreshments and onto Vicarstown and return).
Dé Domhnaigh 19 Bealtaine/ Sunday 19th May
Maynooth Family Cycle Event: 9.30am – 11am
(Maynooth via the Royal Canal Greenway to Kilcock for refreshments and return)
Naas Family Cycle Event: 12.30 pm- 2.30 pm
(Naas Sports Hub via the Canal Road to Sallins Bypass to Sallins for refreshments and return)
Refreshment will be provided at the Cycle Events for cyclists who have registered in advance by emailing Activetravel@kildarecoco.ie
Kildare County Council staff will attend all Cycle Events during Bike Week 2024.
