Temporary Closing of Roads

Kildare County Council gives notice, on behalf of Globalvia Jons Ltd., in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close the following roads between Monday, 18 September 2023 and Monday, 16 October 2023 to facilitate resurfacing works on the M4 between Junction 5 and Junction 7.
It is envisaged that only one of the closures will ever be implemented on a single night.

Alternative Routes:
Alternative route for M4 Westbound, Junction 5 to Junction 7:
Divert from the M4 at Junction 5 (Leixlip/Celbridge East), proceed towards Leixlip using the R148. Traffic should continue on the R148 to the (Intel) roundabout. Taking the first exit for the R449, traffic will continue on the R449, taking the second exit at the first roundabout, and third exit at the second roundabout (M4 Junction 6). Traffic continues on the R449 then takes the second exit for the R405 at the (M4 Interchange Business Park) roundabout. Traffic then follows the R405 to Maynooth, taking a left turn at the junction of the R405 and the R406. Traffic continues on the R406 to M4 Junction 7, where it re-joins the M4 Westbound.
Alternative route for M4 Eastbound, Junction 7 to Junction 6:
Divert from the M4 at Junction 7 (Maynooth), proceed towards Maynooth using the R406. Traffic should take a right turn at the traffic lights and proceed along the R405. Traffic should take the first exit at the roundabout for the R449, re-joining the M4 Motorway at M4 Junction 6 (Leixlip/Celbridge West) using the Eastbound merge on-slip ramp.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána. Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
