Proposed Traffic Calming Measures
Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994
In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:
Mill Street Active Travel Scheme, Maynooth, from the Main Street junction to the Kilcock Road junction comprising of:
- Provision of protected segregated cycle tracks on both sides of the carriageway and localised revised cycle track layout.
- Provision of shared surfaces, as per locations shown on the Section 38 drawings.
- Provision of signalised toucan crossings on all arms of Main Street junction and outside of the Manor Mills shopping centre.
- Provision of raised crossing on Pound Lane side road to prioritise pedestrian movements and for additional safety to vulnerable road users.
- Provision of two (2) new bus stops as part of a new bus route (Tallaght to North Maynooth - Route W6). Provision of a bus shelter at the bus stop on the southbound carriageway.
- Relocation of the existing (2 bay) taxi rank from the north of William Bridge alongside the northbound carriageway to the south of William Bridge alongside the northbound carriageway.
- Removal of six (6) on street parking spaces to accommodate protected segregated cycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
- Provision of periodic loading bay and two (2) car parking spaces between Pound Lane and the Main Street junction. Loading bay between 08:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and monitored parking spaces between 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from Wednesday, 5 July 2023 to Wednesday, 2 August 2023:
