Kildare County Council launches Pre-draft Public Consultation for the Newbridge Local Area Plan
10th October 2023: Kildare County Council has commenced the preparation of a Local Area Plan for Newbridge town (2025 – 2031). This important plan will set out an overarching land use strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of Newbridge over the lifetime of the Plan to 2031. The Plan will incorporate a framework for guiding the future development of transportation, housing, employment, retail, heritage, environmental and community infrastructure for the area.
To stimulate discussion and encourage public participation at this stage in this process, an Issues Paper has been prepared which sets out the key planning issues pertaining to Newbridge. This is available to download from Kildare’s Consult portal.
A ‘drop-in’ event will take place at the Town Hall, Main Street, Newbridge from 2:30pm to 6:30pm on Thursday the 9th of November 2023 where Kildare County Council staff will be available to answer general queries and provide guidance on the pre-draft consultation and plan-making process.
To encourage younger people to engage in the process, Kildare County Council is also hosting an Art Competition entitled ‘Life in Newbridge’ for children of primary and post-primary school age. Entrants are invited to submit their artistic impression of any aspect of their life in Newbridge today. The winning entries will be put on public display in Newbridge. All details are published on Kildare’s Consult portal (as above).
Submissions are invited from interested parties in relation to the Issues Paper over the next 7-week period, to be made before 4pm on Tuesday 28th of November.
Kildare County Council would like to take the opportunity to invite the public to get involved and to help shape the Newbridge Local Area Plan 2025 – 2031.
