Scheme for the Funding of Improvement Works on Private Roads
(Non-Public Roads)
Kildare County Council invites applications for future rounds of funding under the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS).
The LIS is a scheme to support the improvement of non-public rural roads which provide access to homes and farms, as well as amenities such as lakes and rivers. Up to 85% of the funding is provided, with the balance coming from residents.
The scheme is subject to strict criteria and conditions set down by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Qualifying roads must :-
- Be of benefit to agricultural production and benefit two or more parcels of land owned or occupied by different persons engaged in separate agricultural activities.
- Provide access for harvesting purposes (including turf or seaweed) for two or more persons separately engaged in such activities.
- There must be more than one landholder on an LIS road.
Community Involvement Scheme
Scheme for the Funding of Improvement Works on Public Roads
Kildare County Council invites applications for future rounds of funding under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS).
This scheme encourages a joint approach (on a voluntary basis) with groups of local residents and landowners for the restoration of public roads that are lightly trafficked, single lane or cul-de-sac roads. As well as being cul-de-sacs they may also link two local primary roads or two local secondary roads. Up to 80% of the funding is provided, with the balance coming from the local community.
For applications to be considered for funding under the Local Improvement Scheme or Community Involvement Scheme in 2023, applications must sent to Kildare County Council for consideration.
