Kildare County Council (Control of Consumption & Possession of Alcohol in Public Places) Bye-Laws, 2020
Kildare County Council made Bye-Laws on 30 November 2020 prohibiting the consumption of intoxicating liquor on streets and in public places in the County.
The maps below indicate the areas to which the Bye-Laws refer.
These Bye-Laws come into force on 30 December 2020 and are enforced by An Garda Síochána and administered by Kildare County Council.
The penalty for breach of the bye law is a fixed payment of €75 served by An Garda Siochána in the form of a fixed penalty notice.
Persons are entitled to disregard a fixed penalty notice and defend the prosecution of the alleged contravention in court.
During the period of 21 days beginning on the date of service of a fixed penalty notice a person may pay the sum €75.00, to be accompanied by a copy of the fixed penalty notice, in the following ways:
At the offices of Kildare County Council located at:
- Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare W91 X77F or at
- Athy Customer Service Point, Rathstewart, Athy, Co. Kildare R14 Y163.
Payment may also be made by post or by phoning 045 980 657. If paying by phone persons are asked to quote the serial or fine number on the fixed penalty notice.
Cheques etc. should be made payable to Kildare County Council.
A receipt will be given.
In the event of non-payment within the specified period a person or persons shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding €1,900.
