Parks owned and managed by Kildare County Council

There are 19 parks in Kildare that are owned and managed by Kildare County Council. These vary in size from 0.5 hectares (1.2 acres) to 16 hectares (40 acres). 
A full list of the parks and their locations are being updated and will be available shortly. You can explore and engage in a variety of activities from having looped and linear walks, playing pitches, playgrounds and outdoor gyms.  They also cater for passive activities with seating and picnic benches.
 
 

Kerdiffstown Park 

Opening in 2024, Kerdiffstown Park is a multi-use public park with sports pitches, a playground and walking trails.  The park is located north east of Naas and is accessed from a local road off the N7.  (Google maps location).
As a remediated landfill site, there are environmental management and monitoring systems in place.  These will be managed by Kildare County Council in consultation with the EPA and in accordance with the EPA licence.
 
 

De Burghs Woodland Gardens, Naas

The De Burghs Woodland Gardens, showcase a rich collection of plants and trees, an Octagon pond, and a waterfall.  Entry tickets must be prebooked. 
This historic amenity of mature woodlands, is located close to the canal in Oldtown Demesne, Naas.

Opening hours: Saturdays & Sundays 10am to 5.30pm.  Closed at all other times.

The Liffey Linear Park, Newbridge

The Liffey Linear park is a 9.5 acre area of open space along the Liffey in Newbridge Town. The area would have originally been part of a flood plain for the river Liffey and has been developed as a public park since the early 1970s. The park connects St Conleths Bridge to the Athgarvan Road. It is only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Newbridge and parking is available along the main street. The park is well maintained by Kildare County Council in conjunction with Newbridge Tidy Towns. Due to its location on the edge of the town the park provides a relaxing and tranquil location to get away from the busy main street. The natural setting of the park in a river valley has been retained and added to with tree planting and a wildflower area. The park caters for a brisk walk or run with over 1.5 km of paths. For those wishing for a more physical work out there is also an outdoor gym. There is also ample opportunity for those wishing to laze about or enjoy a picnic. Refreshments or a bite to eat before or after visiting the park are available in numerous cafes restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes of the park. The Monread Park, Naas

The Monread Park is located in the north of Naas town between the Sallins and Monread Roads (location in Google Maps). The Park is 12ha/30acres in size. It is a vital recreational amenity for Naas and the surrounding areas. The park is relatively flat and all entrances to it are accessible by pedestrians and bicycles and also provide access for buggies or wheelchairs. There are 2km of paths, 2no. soccer pitches and 1no. junior GAA Pitch. The park is also popular for dog walking. Dog bag dispensers have been provided around the park for the convenience of dog owners. A playground which caters for children from 1-12 is located in the centre of the park (more information in our Playgrounds section). There are 2 bus routes on the Sallins Road and the Dublin Road which provide public transport links to the park.
 
 
 

The People's Park, Athy

A few minutes walk from the train station you will find The People's Park, a gem in the town of Athy (location in Google Maps)  Within this 2 hectares of open space you can enjoy the natural enviornment with mature trees and spring bulb displays, an accessible looped walk, or take a break with family and friends at the picnic areas.  There is also a playground for children and outdoor gym equipment (more information in our Playground section). Prosperous Town Park

Prosperous Town Park (location on Google Maps) is a small park of 1.5 acres, in the centre of the village.  A playground was opened in the park in 2020.  There are bike stands and parking spaces adjacent.  It is also on a bus route. It is managed by Kildare County Council (Parks Department) together with Prosperous Tidy Towns and community groups. 
 
 

Other Parks and Amenities

There are other parks available in Kildare which are not managed by Kildare County Council. These are Castletown House in Celbridge which is managed by the Office of Public Works; forest parks such as Donadea Forest Park and Killinthomas Woods, Rathangan. Moore Abbey Woods, Monasterevin and Mullaghreelan Woods, Kilkea; managed by Coillte
Pollardstown Fen near Newbridge and Ballynafagh Lake outside Prosperous; both managed by National Parks and Wildlife Service
