Kildare County Council welcomes new Local Authority Performance Indicator Report
3rdOctober 2022: Kildare County Council has today welcomed the NOAC Local Authority Performance Indicator Report 2022. The report shows Kildare County Council made improvements last year in areas including, energy savings and climate action amongst others.
According to the report, the number of housing units added to stock nationally is trending upwards. This was reflected in Kildare, as the number of dwellings in Kildare County Council ownership at the end of 2022 was 5,181 up from 4,980 in January 2022.
The report also shows that there has been a significant increase in the number of private rented dwellings inspected by local authorities in 2022 – up 129% since 2021. In 2022, Kildare County Council carried out inspections of 710 rented dwellings, up from 334 in 2021.
In the area of Building Control, of new buildings notified in Kildare, Kildare County Council inspected 53% of these buildings (the minimum requirement is 12-15%).
Kildare also was in the top 6 local authorities where An Bord Pleanála made a determination confirming the local authority’s decision, with or without modifications in over 80% of applications.
The 2022 report includes new indicators to assess Climate Action resources in the sector. Kildare County Council is one of a number of Local Authorities that has a Climate Action team in place, including a Climate Action Coordinator and Climate action Officer.
Kildare County Council continued to deliver essential services throughout the year, as the Performance Indicators Report 2022 shows.
- In 2022, 90.95% of motor tax transactions by Kildare County Council were conducted online – the second highest percentage nationally
- Cumulative percentage of energy savings achieved by Kildare County Council in 2022 was 31.86%
- In 2022, a total of 750,145 items were borrowed from Kildare County Council libraries, up from 241,715 in 2021
- Kildare County Council had the second lowest cost per capita in providing fire services
