MU English in the Community: Creative Writing Workshop 'Sleep and hypnagogic writing’ with Dr. Hilary White
A one-hour reading and writing workshop. Participants will introduce themselves by writing ‘sleep-centric’ bios. Participants will read and discuss Bernadette Mayer’s hypnagogic sonnets – that is, poems written while falling asleep. Finally, participants do some freewriting exercises which suggest the possibilities of writing with sleep, or other states of non-attention. Sharing will be optional, but encouraged.
The workshop is led by Hilary White, a writer and researcher, and currently an Irish Research Council, Government of Ireland 2023 Postdoctoral Fellow at Maynooth University.
