Seed Library – Biodiversity Short Film Screenings and Seed Swap
We will be showing one of the Gaia Foundation’s 30-minute documentary films (the ‘Seeds of Freedom’ trilogy), which shows the ways in which the industrial agricultural system, and in particular genetically modified (GM) seeds, have impacted upon the agro-biodiversity evolved by farmers and communities around the world over millennia. This will be followed by The Gaia Foundation’s latest film ‘Seeding Tomorrow.’ This work follows the market gardeners in Ireland who are returning to seed, relearning its ways, and rejoining the rhythm of life. Kildare Library Service wishes to thank the Gaia Foundation for sharing these films with us.
We hope that people attending the film might bring along some seeds to swap with each other, to start a community of green-fingered enthusiasts! It is also an opportunity for people to borrow seeds from the new Seed Library in each of the branches.
