Do I qualify for Social Housing?
To apply for Social Housing Support with Kildare County Council you need to:
a) live in the Kildare area or
b) have a local connection to the Kildare area and
c) be within the income threshold for Kildare County Council
You have a local connection if:
- A member of the household has resided in the area (for a continuous 5 year period) at any time, or,
- A member of the household is employed in the area or within 15 kilometres of the area, or,
- A member of the household, who has enduring physical, sensory, mental health or intellectual impairment, is attending a related educational or medical establishment in the area, or
- A relative of any member of the household lives in the area and has lived here for a minimum of 2 years.

If you are a Non EEA National you may qualify to make a housing application under one of the criteria listed here
How Do I Apply for Social Housing Support?
You have to complete an Application Form for Social Housing Support and submit with all supporting documents as per page 3 & 4 on the application form. You can submit your application by post to :
Housing Assessments Team, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare W91X77F or you can use the post box located outside of the main building or located at Reception.
Please note it can take up to 12 weeks to process your application. You will receive an acknowledgement letter when your application is received.

Medical Priority
If you wish to apply for Medical Priority you will need to submit the application form which comprises of 3 separate sections as follows:
Part 1 of the form is for the applicant to fill in their details; HMD Form 1 - Part 1
Part 2 of the form is for the first Healthcare Professional to fill in; and HMD Form 1 - Part 2
Part 3 of the form is for the second Healthcare Professional to fill in. HMD Form 1 - Part 3
Once completed the form should be submitted along with any required documentation to the Housing Assessments Team, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare W91X77F for review. Please ensure all three sections of this form are completed in full and returned to the Local Authority together.

Kildare County Council commences Summary of Social Housing Assessments (SSHA) 2024
Kildare County Council is required to conduct a Social Housing Assessment (SSHA 2024), a summary of social housing needs in Kildare.
Only applicants registered and approved with Kildare County Council as in need of social housing between 01st March, 2019 and 31st December, 2020 are required to complete this form. The Summary of Social Housing Assessment 2024 forms and an introductory letter will be posted to relevant housing applicants in the coming days.
If you are a Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) tenant, Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) tenant or Transfer tenant you do not need to complete this form.
The closing date for receipt of the Summary of Social Housing assessment forms is 23rd August, 2024.
Under the departmental directive, failure to submit fully completed SSHA 2024 form, along with relevant documentation, will result in the file being closed and the applicant being removed from the housing list.
