How to apply for Social Housing Support?
To apply for Social Housing Support, please complete an application form for Social Housing Support and submit the required documentation as per page 3 and 4 of the application form. You can access the application form for Social Housing Support at link above or at Kildare County Council offices in Naas, Athy or any of our Libraries.

How to apply for Social Housing Support on Medical Grounds.
If you wish to apply for Medical Priority you will need to submit the application HMD-Form (links below) which comprises of 3 separate sections as follows:
Part 1 of the form is for the applicant to fill in their details; HMD Form 1 - Part 1
Part 2 of the form is for the first Healthcare Professional to fill in; and HMD Form 1 - Part 2
Part 3 of the form is for the second Healthcare Professional to fill in. HMD Form 1 - Part 3
Alternatively, the form can be posted out to you on request.
Once completed the form should be submitted along with any required documentation to the Housing Assessments Team, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, Co. Kildare W91X77F for review. Please ensure all three sections of this form are completed in full and returned together.

Where can I get an update on my Housing application?
The Assessments Team issue a letter to applicants when an application is received and logged on the Housing system iHouse. It may take up to 12 weeks to fully process a complete application, provided no further information is required. A member of the Housing Assessments team will contact you if further information or clarification is required. If your personal details or circumstances change during this process, please notify the team via email housingassessments@kildarecoco.ie
My application is approved what happens next?
You will be issued an approval letter. This will indicate what your bedroom allowance is assessed as. A Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) pack will also be included when the application is finalised on the Housing system. This will be posted to the address on your application form.
Your time on the list will begin from your approval date which will be stated on your letter. You are eligible to apply for HAP if you source a suitable private rented tenancy.
You can also apply for properties advertised through the Choice Based Letting (CBL) system https://kildarecoco.ie/AllServices/Housing/ChoiceBasedLettings/. You are only eligible to apply for properties in line with your Housing Need as stated on your approval letter i.e., 1 Bed/2Bed/3Bed.
Information about the CBL System will be provided on your approval letter.
Please Note: You cannot apply for CBL or be considered for a housing allocation if you are assessed as HAP only, as per Section 49 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014. If you have an interest in a property or are due proceeds, you may be assessed as HAP only until legal proceedings have concluded and proceeds are determined. Your application for Social Housing Support will need to be re-assessed at that stage.
My approval letter states I am only approved for HAP?
As per Section 49 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2014, If you have an interest in a property or are due proceeds, you may be assessed as HAP only until legal proceedings have concluded and proceeds are determined. Your application for Social Housing Support will need to be re-assessed at that stage. The criteria regarding potential proceeds is outlined in our Allocations Policy – Financial Contributions here.
What is my place on the housing list?
As per Kildare County Council’s Allocation Policy, applicants who have applied for social housing will be considered having regard to the period which has elapsed since they were included on the social housing list, this is known as ‘time on the list’ and subject to the availability of a suitable property. In certain circumstances, overall priority may be given to applicants who satisfy the criteria as per our Allocations Policy.

Looking for a letter stating that you are on the housing list in Kildare (for rent supplement).
