Kildare County Council Welcomes Funding from Community Recognition Fund
Over €768,000 in funding for 10 projects in Kildare
Kildare County Council has welcomed the announcement by the Government of over €768,000 in funding for 10 projects in Kildare as part of the first ever Community Recognition Fund.
The major initiative of over €50 million in funding for over 880 projects across the country is designed to support and reward communities that have welcomed families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries.
In Kildare, the successful projects range from community buildings, upgrade works to sports facilities to installation of new heating systems, age friendly facilities, multi-purpose facilities, equipment for sports clubs and much more.
The successful applications in Kildare under the Community Recognition Fund are:
- Kilcock – funding of €48,383 for provision of dugouts, upgrade to lights on pitch, upgrade to ESB supply for provision of additional lighting, installation of nets behind goals and groundworks
- Newbridge – funding of €440,000 for phase 2 of Newbridge FRC extension of community building
- Kill GAA – funding of €80,500 for provision of lights & surfacing of the track & supervision of works
- Ballymore Eustace (Bandhall) – funding of €40,000 for the redesign of toilet & storage facilities, demolition of old facilities and construction of the new facilities
- Ballymore Eustace – funding of €18,500.50 to provide age friendly seating in publicly accessible areas along with planting of trees at the seating
- Naas (Hockey) – funding of €14,000 for the provision of new goals
- Celbridge – funding of €20,000 for the installation of Celbridge Outdoor Gym Equipment including fixed and plyometric equipment
- Celbridge (SNM) – funding of €16,621 for new sports netting on pitches and a ride on lawnmower
- Monasterevin GFC – funding of €10,000 to replace the current heating system
- Athy – funding of €80,000 for the purchase of land and a seating/picnic area
The Community Recognition Fund has been allocated across all local authorities based on the number of new arrivals located there.
The Fund, administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development, follows an extensive consultation process whereby Kildare County Council issued a call for expressions of interest and submitted a list of projects for approval.
