Book Launch: Maman Brigitte by Pauline Breen
Join author Pauline Breen for the launch of her book Maman Brigitte.
This is Maman Brigitte – Dark Goddess of Africa and Ireland is an exploration of Brigid and the African goddess Oya who blended during the slave trade in Haiti and evolved in the new world into Maman Brigitte. Brigid is rarely considered a dark goddess but this expression of her is to be found in the Vodou religion of Haiti and Louisiana.
Who is she? What does she represent and how can you connect to her? Are there any similarities between Maman Brigitte and Brigid or is Maman Brigitte a unique spirit that has nothing in common with Brigid?
Learn how the common experience of Haitian and Irish women who found themselves living on unfamiliar territory in New Orleans had more in common than not and how this co-existence enabled Maman Brigitte to flourish into the Dark Goddess that she is today. A Goddess to turn to for strength, survival, to assist with displacement, abandonment and deep shadow work.
