Gerard Manley Hopkins International Festival
Beginning with a short talk on the library and its history, by noted historian and
author Seán Bagnall, visiting poets will stage an international performance of poetry. This will be preceded by music from gifted guitarist Conor Mahony of the Gael Choláiste, Naas.
Introduced by Professor William Adamson from Stuttgart, Germany, poets include recent award-winner Desmond Egan reading from his new collection: ‘Laptop’.
Julian Stannard (from Cambridge); Donald Gardner (Holland); Lena Koster (Sweden); Kevin McEneaney and Patricia Miller (USA). Other distinguished writers will also read in what promises to be a stimulating hour of modern poetry.
The 36th annual Hopkins Festival, based in Newbridge College, is taking place from 19th July to 25th July.
