Kildare Schools Folklore Exhibition
In 1937 there was a project to gather stories, tales and fables from school children which were collected into a folklore collection within our national archive (see www.duchas.ie for more info)
Some schools that participated have been matched with their modern-day equivalent and the modern-day students have rediscovered the stories and recreated them in audio recordings and visual illustrations in this final interactive project. The exhibition will also represent the diversity such as the Polish, Traveller and African heritage of the modern-day classrooms.
Come along to view the amazing projects and stories the children have collected and discovered about their own folklore. Upstairs at Celbridge Library will be transformed into a magical reflective space with its own larger-than-life rag tree and decor. The audio-visual presentations will display the link between the modern classroom and its folklore past. Participating Schools are Scoil Naomh Brid in Celbridge and St Laurence's Sallins.
