Martin Dyar grew up in Swinford, County Mayo. His first book of poems Maiden Names (Arlen House) was shortlisted for the Pigott Poetry Prize. He is the editor of the new anthology Vital Signs: Poems of Illness and Healing, published by Poetry Ireland. He has held writing fellowships at the University of Iowa and the University of Limerick. He teaches in the School of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. His next book of poems, The Meek, is forthcoming from Wake Forest University Press.
