Kildare County Archives

Archives are records of intrinsic value, stored for all time because of the unique information that they contain. Archival material can include manuscripts, maps, drawings, plans, registers, diaries and correspondence, as well as photographs, tape recordings, film, video, microfilm and electronic records. Kildare County Archives holds the records of local government, along with some private papers and manuscript material relating to County Kildare. Please note that some collections are not available to researchers as they have not yet been catalogued, require conservation or contain personal information about individuals. 

Opening Hours

Thursday and Fridays from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00 by prior appointment subject to availability. Contact: archives@kildarecoco.ie

The Kildare County Archives Research Room is located at Harbour View, Naas, Co. Kildare, W91 A997.

Before Your Visit

Researchers will need a current library membership. Join Kildare Library service

Access to Kildare County Archives is by prior appointment only. A week’s notice at least is preferred. In order to make an appointment, please fill out the Reader's Application form and email to archives@kildarecoco.ie

All visitors to Archives must sign the Rules for Readers. These rules are set out to ensure a comfortable working environment for researchers and the preservation of original documents.

Donations and Deposits

We welcome donations and deposits of material relating to the county and its people, subject to assessment. If you have a collection of material that you feel is of historic interest to County Kildare, please contact archives@kildarecoco.ie
