County Kildare Board of Health and Public Assistance
The records of the County Kildare Board of Health and Public Assistance represent an invaluable primary source for the development and application of the Irish public welfare system and health, social and economic conditions in the early 20th century. The main record series in this collection are minute books which contain information on policy and administration; the issues discussed include sanitation, housing repairs, control of infectious diseases, and the financial administration of the system. Other record series include correspondence files and material relating to day to day administration.
These records are not available to the public for privacy reasons. The archivist can carry out research on behalf of researchers in collections that are subject to restricted access because they contain confidential information about families or individuals. Extracts can be supplied to members of the public or agencies acting on their behalf, for personal, research or statistical reasons. Some material may be unavailable because it is too fragile.
