Kildare Local Community Safety Partnership

The Kildare Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is a statutory body established under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024. The Partnership is hosted by Kildare County Council and forms part of the national framework of Local Community Safety Partnerships coordinated by the Department of Justice and supported by the National Office for Community Safety.

The LCSP replaces the former Joint Policing Committees and represents a new, inclusive approach to improving safety and wellbeing in communities across County Kildare. 

Purpose and Statutory Role

In line with national legislation and guidance, the purpose of the Kildare LCSP is to bring together local communities, public services and statutory agencies to identify community safety priorities and to oversee the development and delivery of a Local Community Safety Plan for the county.

Community safety is understood in its broadest sense and extends beyond crime prevention to include issues such as social inclusion, health and wellbeing, education, and environmental safety. 

Functions of the Partnership

In accordance with the Act and national guidance, the functions of the Kildare LCSP include: 

  • Providing a forum for collaboration between community representatives, elected members and statutory agencies
  • Consulting with communities to identify local safety priorities
  • Developing, adopting and overseeing the implementation of a Local Community Safety Plan
  • Monitoring progress and supporting coordinated action across relevant services

Community Engagement

Community engagement is a core statutory principle of the LCSP. The Partnership seeks to ensure that the voices and experiences of local communities inform priority setting, planning and decision‑making, with particular regard to inclusion and representation of diverse communities.

Kildare Safe and Connected Community Grant Scheme

Kildare County Council, in partnership with the Kildare Local Community Safety Partnership, is delighted to announce The Kildare Safe and Connected Community Grant Scheme. The grants will open on on the 1st of October and close at 4 p.m. on the 30th of October. Please see below link for further information:

Have Your Say – Our Surveys Are Now Open

As part of the consultation process, the LCSP has launched two public surveys to ensure that both adults and young people have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the Plan.

We also want to hear directly from young people about what makes them feel safe or unsafe and what could help improve community safety for young people across the county.

We encourage people across County Kildare to take part and to share the surveys with family, friends, colleagues, community groups and local networks.
