Athy Sláintecare Healthy Communities Launch
A public event took place at Athy Community Library on Friday 14th October 2022 to officially launch Athy as a Sláintecare Healthy Community area.
Sláintecare Healthy Community areas benefit from increased health and wellbeing supports via core pillars such as parenting programmes, QUIT smoking services, nutrition and cookery courses, and social prescribing to improve mental health and wellbeing.
There was a large and enthusiastic turnout in Athy to meet Minister of State for Public Health, Wellbeing and National Drugs Strategy, Frank Feighan TD and representatives of the agencies involved, including the Department of Health, the HSE, Kildare County Council, County Kildare Leader Partnership and Athy Family Resource Centre.
Inclusion in this positive programme is a real good news story for residents of all ages in Athy, their families, and vital community networks. More information on the launch event and overall programme is available here:
