Community Bus Service
A new community bus initiative was recently announced by Naas Community Gardaí in conjunction with the Naas Municipal District of Kildare County Council.
The marked Garda vehicle is equipped with an automatic wheelchair lift for accessibility and can accommodate up to 16 passengers, or 12 passengers and one wheelchair. It is driven by trained Garda personnel.
If you’d like to book this free service from anywhere in Kildare, you can make a request through your local Garda Station. Please give lots of notice and note the following:
- The community bus is available to community and voluntary groups based in Kildare for transport relating to ad hoc outings rather than routine events.
- Priority will be given to community and voluntary groups with a social inclusion mandate, especially those in the disability sector.
- Vehicle capacity and operation may vary in line with passenger needs and public health advice.
- While every effort will be made to accommodate appropriate requests, the provision of this service depends on resource availability and other factors, so transport cannot be guaranteed.
The very best of luck to everyone involved in this fantastic community initiative which was funded by a Local Property Tax allocation.
